“Marhaba, Welcome to the Burj”
The Burj Al Arab, undoubtedly the most luxurious hotel in the world. The iconic dhow-shaped architecture, food created using the best ingredients from around the world, a wall that glitters and is indeed gold, a restaurant under the sea and to top it off, the only hotel to have been named a true seven-star hotel. Located overlooking the Jumeriah Beach Resort and the famous Wild Wadi amusement park, this beauty has been created on a man-made island and everything here screams of pure luxury. When my sister decided to take us (my brother in law, little nephew and me) for brunch to this famous hotel, it was almost like a dream come true to experience Dubai at its best.
Well, thinking of dropping by at the Burj to check out the place for yourself? Sure, you can try your luck, but without a reservation the guards will shun you away like a mosquito. So ensure you have your reservations in place, once done, you’ll receive a list of do’s and don’ts that you’ll have to follow to come face to face with this spectacular structure.
Once you reach the hotel, you’ll be greeted by the sound of beautiful swaying fountains and welcome dates at the entrance to make your welcome to the hotel sweeter than it already is. A beautiful view overlooking the Jumeriah Beach Resort awaits you, plush seating, some soothing live music and the best cutlery in the world, well and a few surprises to make your brunch experience absolutely delightful.
Arabic, Indian- Veg or English, the three cuisines that are offered as part of the brunch menu. You can also sip on a range of different teas from lands unknown to accompany your delicious breakfast stand . The most delectable Danish pastry I have ever eaten, I could eat a hundred of these, buttery, jam-filled delights. I settled for the Egg Atlantic- beautifully poached eggs on a bed of smoked salmon positioned artfully on an English muffin. They also gave us a complementary mousse to celebrate my little nephew’s birthday, he was thrilled to see the chocolate-y wonder. However, my sister didn’t quite enjoy the Indian spread, with a host of different snacks ranging from samosas to ladoos she found her chutney to be sour and if you’re from India, looking at having some chatpata items here, my suggestion would be to stay away.
The other restaurants in the hotel include the Al Mahara(“The Oyster”), here its all about the ambiance-it was simply delightful. Who knew you could enter this beautiful oyster shaped arch and be transported to a whole new world of underwater paradise. Sharks, stingrays and the world’s most charming fish, all this while you sit down and enjoy some of the best seafood that Dubai has to offer.
Al Muntana, located on the 27th floor, well getting there might make you a little dizzy, more like cabin pressure you experience on a flight, but the view from the top is truly sensational. Home to one of the most expensive cocktails in the world, any guesses? It’s the 27321, what is this number you ask, well simply put, the price of the cocktail in AED which translates to approx. 5,00,000 INR. Yes yes it’s just a cocktail, oh wait, it does contain gold dust, and ice made from the best water in the world.
Next stop , we visited the astounding ballroom, created to mimic the one in the movie Titanic, this place will leave you speechless. Looking for a place to relax and revitalize after the luxury overdose- head to the beautiful Talise Spa, the alluring infinity pool will drag you right in.
Overall I would say THE Burj is the place to experience the life of the rich and the richest. According to the staff here, the Chinese and Russians make up a large pool of visitors to the hotel. So are you ready to enjoy your chauffeur driven Rolls Royce? or maybe you could ditch the road and choose to arrive by air instead. A revolving bed and a pillow menu which lets you can choose from 17 different types of pillows await you.
Beyond doubt, the Burj simply redefines luxury, so get ready to float away on a bed of luxury and opulence. This hotel lives upto the Jumeriah Group tagline- “Stay Different” in every aspect.
