Spend your Sunday lazing by the pool enjoying some scrumptious food and beautifully crafted cocktails to go with it. Sounds perfect indeed, doesn’t it! BG@Courtyard by Marriott also has a surprise counter that is sure to get you super-excited. A calm and relaxed atmosphere, with a mix of aromas wafting in the air and the joy on the bartenders face when he brings to you one of his signature cocktails.
The brunch menu at BG’s is a fusion of cuisines from different pockets of the world. We were given a short tour of the place before we ventured on a gastronomical journey full of surprises and interesting combinations. We started our journey at the Indian counter, chaats and tikkis awaited us, love the mix of Indian flavors and colors that is sure to brighten up your morning. We decided to stick to the ever popular Paani Puri. If you’re a chaat addict, then it’s a perfect way to start your Sunday morning.
Next stop, the aromas of the famous Burmese soup caught us by surprise. They had a Khao Suey counter, now that is not something I’ve seen at many buffets in Bangalore and the soup can be customized to suit your preferences. I was delighted to see it, but I’m not sure how one can have a whole portion of this soup, given that it’s a meal in itself and might get a little too heavy. Anyways,if you’re craving for some Khao suey, you definitely know where to find it.
For all the health freaks out there, or just those of you who settle for a salad occasionally to beat a sudden guilt attack, you must pay a visit to the salad counter. The vegetables and greens on display looked absolutely fresh and they also had a few plated salads on the table. We tried the Beetroot Salad, was plated to perfection, it broke my heart to dig into it 🙂 A slice of cheese makes everything better, so go ahead and choose from their variety of cheese and toppings.
Maybe even a bowl of Seafood Soup to go with it. Before we went ahead, I caught a glimpse of the dessert counter, dessert being my weakness, this counter was beautifully done up and I couldn’t help but stop and stare. But like they say, you’ve got to move on, well at least for sometime , maybe just pretend to.
What I liked most about their menu is the innovative twist, be it in their cocktails or food. The chef at BG’s introduced us to the Cold Pizza , made using a tortilla base and a generous topping of truffles and truffle oil, it wasn’t as cold as we’d expected, but it was absolutely delicious and extremely light.Something to munch on while sipping on our drinks, Prawn Tempura was recommended, crisp prawns with a lovely dip to go with it, I found it to be a tad bit oily though.Next stop, for the Mains, we tried the Lamb Chops with roasted carrots and a cheesy mash, the mash was delicious, perfectly creamy and it went really well with the lamb. The Roast Turkey with Plum sauce was great too. However, I didn’t quite enjoy the grills, it was quite overdone and the Fish was charred.
Their cocktails add a fun element to the whole brunch experience. Be it the quirky names or the mix of unexpected flavors that come together really well.
We tried The Magga, a interesting cocktail made using peach syrup and a bottle of beer, an extremely refreshing drink and a hit among the beer lovers. We also watched the bartender make a colorful cocktail called The Rainbow, beautiful colors combined to make this sweet concoction.
Coming to my favorite part, desserts. They had a exquisite spread of pastries, mousse, chocolate in every form possible and my favorite, the Baked yogurt. So ensure you keep some space for dessert.
