“Season those chopsticks,it’s Slurp time!”
Introducing to you the Noodles of Asia Food Festival at one of my favorite restaurants in the city, none other than High Ultra Lounge, South India’s tallest lounge bar. A bunch of us foodies were invited for a master class by the Executive chef at High- Chef Myo followed by a tasting of their noodle menu.
If your idea of noodles revolves around Maggi then you should probably stop reading right here. But if your noodle world is filled with Soba, Udon, rice noodles and more, then you’re definitely in for a treat. The session started off with a culinary masterclass by Chef Myo himself where he whipped up different variants of the humble noodles. I missed most of the class courtesy the sluggish Bangalore traffic on a Saturday night, but I was lucky to see the demonstration of the last dish which was the Stir Fry Noodles.
Chef Myo,being from Burma sure knows how to make his Khao Swe’, one of my all time favorite Asian dishes. Khao Swe’ for me is definitely the ultimate comfort food, the creaminess of the coconut curry, tender slithery noodles and to top it off , a lovely soft boiled egg. We also tried the Noodle Soup which was delicious-rice noodles served in a lovely broth with lots of veggies. The Pad Thai was a hit, it was the perfect balance of sweet and sour and the noodles was cooked to perfection.
Some of the highlights of the festival are the Hakka Noodles from China, Rice Noodles with Shrimp and Pork ,Vegetable Noodles from Singapore, Phad Thai, Udoon and Ba mee.
So get ready to go on a Noodilicious journey around Asia and while you are at it, treat your eyes to the most break-taking view of the city.We also tried a few of the Signature Cocktails and some Sushi to go with. Overall I had a wonderful time learning all about the unknown noodle world, so go check it out before it’s over.
