Most of us have lived in Karnataka all our lives and still don’t know what the food here is about. When our friends come from different parts of the country searching for what Bangalore has to offer, the most customary route is to take them to CTR for Benne Dosa or Corner House for DBC . Well there is a lot more to Karnataka cuisine, a world full of gastronomical delights waiting to be discovered.
I was invited for the launch of the Karnataka Food Festival at My Place – Movenpick Hotel& Spa, located in Mathikere. I was a little hesitant to travel to the other side of town, considering the traffic scene here. But later I realized that I’ve been in Bangalore all my life and never really got a chance to relish the delicacies that the state has to offer. So my friend Ashmitha and I, set out on an food adventure and we have a wonderful time gorging of some of the little known delicacies that the state has to offer . The event saw a number of eminent actors from the Kannada Film industry or Sandalwood as it’s commonly referred to.
The fest boasts of a spread of authentic dishes from different regions of the state. We were given a glimpse of the most highly recommended dishes. The vinegary-pandi curry from Coorg, Manglore’s coconuty delicacies with Kori Roti, Crab saaru, Ragi Mudde, Obbatu, Congress Masala to name some of my favorites. Overall, they have an exquisite variety of options to choose from, so head to Movenpick to experience Karnataka at it’s best.
