Chitty Bang Bang Chitty,Chitty Bang Bang.Oh you pretty Chitty Bang Bang,
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.We love you.
Sounds familiar doesn’t it, the name and logo is sure to give you a shot of nostalgia of your favorite childhood movie!
This new rooftop gastropub is located very close to Sony World in Koramangala (the building adjacent to The Great Indian Thali and Via Milano). The place is rather small, but it’s very cosy and the perfect place to enjoy the Bangalore weather while treating your senses to some soulful music.
The menu combines Indian, Italian and Continental flavors. The also have some interesting concoctions on offer, the Bang Bang and HotCity deserve a special mention. The Hot City is perfect for those who like to spice it up, with a lovely sexy chilli sliding down the glass. If you’re looking at starting off on a sweet note then you can try the Snicker shot, I would recommend you save it for dessert though.
To start with, we tried the Spinach Empanada, it was absolutely delicious, a lovely crunchy coating encasing a spinach and cheese filling. To appease our ravenous carnivorous stomachs, we settled for the hot favorite – Bang Bang Chicken, well what can I say, the flavors were just spot on or should I say bang on. We tried the Mushroom Cheeseballs which was delicious, come on, it’s mushroom and cheese, how can anyone possibly go wrong with this.
Next up we got our hands on some succulent Pondy Beef, it was perfect, with the tender slit coconut slices added a slight crunch and the it was perfectly spiced too. Beef made well, is extremely rare in Bangalore, and trust me when I say, this was one of the best I’ve had. We also feasted on some Tempura Prawns,(it was lightly batter-fried and crunchy), Bruschetta and pizzas, both of which were just alright.
Coming to mains, it was an all Italian affair. We indulged in some Beetroot Risotto, Prawn Aglio Olio and Chicken Lasagna. I have this thing for Beetroot, there is just something about the beautiful purple color and I still believe it to be the most underappreciated veggie, so I was super excited when it arrived.Well coming to the point, the Risotto was absolutely delicious, it was laced with some feta cheese for an added flavour. The Chicken Lasagna was just about alright, it was a bit overdone and slightly smokey. Aglio Oilo was good if you’re a fan that is, I personally like my pasta oozing with sauce and flavors, so I try and stay away from Aglio Olio.
Let’s see if the desserts created magic.
We tried the Chocolate Brownie with Ice cream, which was just okay or ok or K, the brownie was more of a cake. The Blueberry Cheesecake didn’t do it for me either. So overall, I think the desserts could be improved.
Live performances is another thing that differentiates the place. The owner, Jaideep Goswami is very enthusiastic about the live platform and is trying to bring in more artists to showcase their talent. So head to CCBB to indulge in an interesting mix of starters and be sure to be thoroughly entertained.
