It’s raining Mangoes in Bangalore and every restaurant is coming up with a delicious Mango menu to celebrate this season. When I heard about the Mango festival at Rasovara in UB City, I just couldn’t wait to try it. It’s really interesting how they’ve incorporated the king of fruits in their menu to create some of the most delectable and innovative Rajasthani and Gujarati delights.
Last week I was invited by Chef Aji Nair to check out the Majestic Mango Festival and I decided to pay a visit on Mother’s day with my favorite mango lover – Mom of course.
Located on Level 2 of UB City, this restaurant is a big hit among the vegetarian population in Bangalore. Walk in and you’ll be greeted with a touch of chandan tikka on your forehead and a delicious motichoor ladoo that signifies sweet beginnings and prepares you for the gastronomical journey ahead. Rasovara is all about celebrating royalty, they aim at bringing to you the magical food from the palaces.
This is one place that boasts of a decadent thali that is truly fit for the kings and hospitality to match it. Trust me, you will never ever go hungry from the gates of Rasovara. The beautiful khansa thali was the first to make its appearance on our table and with the blink of an eye, each of the small katoris were filled. There was also a small salad platter that was brought to the table with some veggies and pickle.
We started off with a delicious aam panna which was perfectly sweetened, next came the Rajashtani delicacy- Dal Bhatti Churma with oodles of ghee poured graceful on top.
As we made our way into the thali, we were delighted to experience the cacophony of flavours with each dish. Some of my favorites from the Mango menu were Khoba Roti, Mango Lassi, Khicdi and I loved all the desserts. What stood out for me was the Aamras with hot puris which was absolutely divine. Perfectly sweetened aamras, I would definitely go back for this.
The service here is impeccable, it reminds me of those days when you visit a friend’s house and their mom stuffs you with more food than you can eat. That’s exactly what happens at Rasovara, one after the other, the whole thali is a treat that is sure to tantalize your taste buds.
So the next time you’re craving some rich food prepared by the shahi kansamas, don’t think twice and head to Rasovara.
